Uninstall Products Interactively
To move a current copy of MATLAB® to another computer, you must uninstall it from the computer it is currently installed on. In this case, do not deactivate the software. You can then install MATLAB on another computer.
If you no longer have a valid license and just want to remove the software from your computer, it is best to deactivate before removing your installation. For more information about deactivating software, see Deactivate Your Installation.

Uninstall Products from Windows Systems

To uninstall MathWorks products from your computer:
- Exit MATLAB.
- Start the uninstaller, using any of the following methods.

To change the products you had selected for deletion, click Cancel.If you also want to remove your MATLAB user preferences, click the Uninstall MATLAB preference files (including Command History) check box. - (Optional) Choose whether to delete download archive files. If your MATLAB installation folder contains the archive files for downloaded products, the uninstaller displays a message asking if you want to delete these archive files. The installer stores these archive files in the

Uninstall Products from Linux Systems
- Exit the MATLAB program.
- Enter this command at the Linux prompt, where
represents the name of your top-level MATLAB installation folder:matlabroot
Uninstall Products from macOS Systems
To uninstall MATLAB:
- Get the user name and password of an administrator account on the macOS computer. Depending on where you installed MATLAB software, you might need administrator privileges to remove it.
- Exit MATLAB.
- Navigate to your MATLAB installation folder. For example, the installation folder might be named
MATLAB_R2020a.app
in yourApplications
folder. - Drag your MATLAB installation folder to the trash, and then select Empty Trash from the Finder menu.

The Norton Removal Tool will scour your PC for remnants of any Norton security tool (all the old Norton 2003 and later products), removing any associated files, folders and Registry keys.
The application's uninstall program really should handle this, of course, but security tools are notorious for worming their way deep into your PC, and getting rid of them is rarely straightforward. Find & replace it 2 0 9. But if you don't, then you may have problems elsewhere: some security suites won't install if they detect the remains of a competing package, for example.
Before you use the Removal Tool, though, take a moment to think. Do you really want to wipe everything? You'll lose all your program settings, quarantined files and other associated data. Your product key will be deleted, too - if you ever plan to reinstall your Norton package, and you don't have a record of the key to hand, then you must make a note of it now.
